Global Me

I am a study abroad advisor by profession and love to travel and explore other cultures.   My own adventures started at 16 when I went to visit my brother who was stationed in Germany and since then I have studied abroad in Italy and have traveled to 15 other countries.

However, the older I get the less I travel.  Time constraints and responsibilities keep me homebound.  Fortunately as social media continues to grow, so do the opportunities to be global from home.   So that is my goal – explore the world around me within a 30 mile radius of my front door and share what I find.

This site is for those who have recently returned from studying abroad, just started a new job with minimal vacation,  homebound with little ones, or anyone who just wants to experience more of the world right at home.  If that is you, happy “virtual” travels!

If you ever have any questions about teaching English in Korea let me know! I currently teach in a public school, but I have friends who teach in private schools.

Hey, thanks for liking my blog post! What a small world it really is, I’m originally from OKC! Of course now I’m living in Ghana, but I’m still an Okie at heart. I’m glad I found your blog, it is a great read!

Thanks so much, Melli! I checked out your blog as well – what a great idea to provide info on your hometown! My brother lived outside of Weisbaden in a little town called Winkle. I loved Germany and hope to go back again.

    Hi Elise,

My name is KC Owens, I’m a college student and I love to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. I have been to countries all over Europe with just my backpack and a camera. Since I am a college student and I have significant bills, it can be difficult to find ways to travel the world. However, I have done this several times, with less than ten pounds of luggage and while on a college dime!

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my tips and tricks with your readers. I put a lot of time into my traveling, it is my biggest passion and I would love to inspire others by sharing my stories, mistakes and triumphs. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,

    KC Owens

    Hi!
I’ve been reading your blog and I love it! I was hoping you could advise me a bit. I am currently studying my Masters in Sustainable Tourism through distance education from Arizona State University. I want to become active in the field but I’m finding it difficult to find opportunities as I currently live in Cusco, Peru and need to still be able to travel while I work. I had never thought about being a study abroad or international education advisor. This sounds perfect for me if only I could do it virtually. Can you help point me in the right direction? This is a new idea for me so any ideas will help!
    Thank you 🙂
    Ashley
